There are many ways to study hypnotherapy, which take some different and similar approaches. SFH uses a particular modern counselling approach from the 1960s called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). This short and effective type of counselling, combined with clinical hypnosis is a potent and quick acting method. Many clients get results very quickly with 4 – 6 sessions or less. Some people find it beneficial to have occasional top-up sessions when life gets additionally difficult or stressful at times.
SFH works by helping clients to become more aware, initially, of their own thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour, and how that relates to their individual life experience. This happens via the client/therapist interaction/chat part of the session, followed by Hypnosis (20-30 mins) and then repeated (important) use of the audio of this at home, when going to bed. How the time spent in session is the client’s choice, with guidance and discussion that includes various different appropriate techniques and protocols that become clear in time. Some people (10%) may fall asleep but most will experience a relaxed, comfortable state we call Trance (a daydreaming feeling) that means we fall in and out of listening, visualising and noticing thoughts and emotions…… You remain in control and able to open eyes if necessary.
More details are explained in the first face-to-face (or online) session of 90 minutes and clients are encouraged, from the outset, to understand that our brains are basically waiting to hear what we want to do, change and experience in our life and how together we (but mostly YOU) come up with solutions to make that happen!
