About

I’ve  lived in Gloucester for 20 years and split my time now between teaching music (piano and strings) and delivering hypnotherapy to people of all ages. I work from my home near Gloucester centre and am flexible with times and days to accommodate clients’ work/domestic arrangements.
 
A really good friend of mine became a hypnotherapist and told me I should too! When you value someone’s opinion you don’t dismiss a comment like that lightly, and so I did something called a SWOT analysis – a quadrant with strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities in each corner. I filled it in with the pros and cons of this idea…… I don’t know why really (I do now!) – but it was a really useful exercise that convinced me to give it a go. I often strongly recommend it to clients.
 
I have never looked back. I realised I wanted a new challenge as I love learning, but doubted I could still study! I’ve always been fascinated by psychology but didn’t have £50K (or 5 years) to spare on a degree! I needed to work and study and part-time helped this…… and so on, until the picture emerged and looked possible.
I loved the course instantly. I had to learn the basics and then practise on unsuspecting family, friends and interested volunteers, write up case studies and learn to talk more …. slowly….. I qualified in 2017, survived a pandemic and now find life endlessly interesting, full of new facts and meet the most amazing children and adults. All of whom want to learn something that will their enhance life, and which I know I can help with.
 
As a child with psoriasis from aged 4, I had hypnosis at 14 and was astounded when it disappeared for a short time (I now know I needed more sessions); I also tried giving up chocolate as an adult (for 8 months completely) and thereafter managed the urges. This personal experience meant I had some solid belief which has been confirmed in my ongoing practice.

About me

I trained at the renowned Clifton Hypnotherapy Practice in Bristol and hold the Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (DSFH)and the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma (HPD). Before training as a hypnotherapist, I trained and continue to work as a teacher (of music, trained at the Royal Academy of Music, London); as a music therapist (trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London) and latterly as a prison officer, with people from all walks of life, often at a very low point in life and health.
